Port Sunlight

A dozen of met up just outside the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight. We started our trip by looking around the gallery. This took us all of the morning as there was so much to see. Lunch was in the coffee shop under the gallery. Port Sunlight village had been built by Lord Leverhulme to provide housing for his workers and is now described as a model village. After lunch we all went our separate ways. Some went into the museum then the house next door which was a replica of the original houses that formed part of the estate.

Following one of the main roads through the village you eventually come to a large bowling green then a further replica house. Unfortunately, this house seemed to be locked so we watched several games of bowls being played before returning to our cars. Other members if the group went into the church and listened to the organist playing Calon Lan for them. The cost of entry to museums gave you a ticket which is valid for one year so I expect some of us will be returning to see the things that we missed.
