24th August brought a new challenge for our Boules group when we visited Ruthin to compete with Ruthin u3a in our first away Boules match!

With weather more reminiscent of the South of France than North Wales, players from both u3as resplendent in berets and team t-shirts took to the piste at Ruthin Rugby Club for an afternoon of competitive — but very friendly — Boules.

There was plenty of good-natured rivalry, some impressive throwing, and, of course, lots of laughter along the way.

A big thank you to Ruthin u3a for organising the event, and for providing refreshments and delicious cake, and to everyone who took part and helped make this inaugural match such an enjoyable occasion.

We’re already looking forward to the return fixture!
