On 22nd May 2026, we sent a 10 strong unit over the border to RAF Cosford, there to explore the wonders of the R.A.F. Musem Midlands.
What an amazing display of aircraft and other militaria. It was a very warm day which slowed us down to a low rate of Knots but determination and our investigative instincts enabled us to see a reasonable percentage of the vast array of items on display.

To those who have not been to this remarkable exhibition of historic aircraft et alia, we heartily recommend a visit.
Some of our group had memories about different aircraft we saw, which they shared with us. Two of our ladies noted that they were both just 1 year old when the first Spitfire flew. Another man said that during his national service he was involved in evaluating the Saladin which was brand new at the time and that his brother flew a Catalina in the war.

My memories included the Vulcan flying over our house regularly when we lived in Nottingham and travelling on a Dakota and having to clamber over the beam which joined the wings to get to the seats nearer the front of the plane.
As it had been a very hot day some of the group finished the day with ice cream.
Thanks Don for arranging such an amazing trip
