Dodging the April showers

Another enjoyable morning for our Boules group when eleven of us met at the Corwen Memorial Park. The showery April weather was kind to us once more and we even saw a few brief bursts of sunshine. As there were so many players we decided to try two games starting from the centre of the pitch and playing towards each end. Two teams with two players each threw three balls and the other two teams had three players who each threw two balls.

Using the pitch for two simultaneous games inevitably led to shorter throws than normal and the hard surface allowed the boules to roll quite readily. Several players were caught out by encountering the barrier earlier than anticipated. One game at my end was even abandoned when the cochinet was knocked on into the barrier and hence out of play. Some learned the hard way about rules which had never been needed when we played on the cricket field!

A little learning and plenty of fun.
