An excellent meeting at Geoff and Suzanne's house to start the year.
For a refreshing change from our CDs Annabel brought along a musty but enjoyable boxed set of 10 LPs retrieved from the depths of her cupboards. A prospect of plenty of nostalgia to come!

These were our selections today:

• Dave - "The Green Willow Tree" a traditional sea shanty performed by Bryn Terfel with Sting and acoustic guitar, bass. fiddle and whistle.
• Suzanne - "Affettuoso" 2nd Movement of Brandenberg Concerto No 5 performed by The Jaques Lousier Trio with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
• Lin - 1st Movement of Saxaphone Concerto, Allegro Spirito composed by Ronald Binge performed by Aage Voss.
• Pete - Spring from Vivaldi's Four Seasons performed by The Cambridge Buskers.
• Annabel - "Better is Peace". The final part of L'homme Armé (The Armed Man) composed by Karl Jenkins and performed by London Philaharmonic Orchestra and The National Youth Choir of Great Britain.
• Marie - "Vissi d'arte" from Act 2 of Tosca by Puccini performed by Kiri Te Kanawa, and National Philharmonic Orchestra.
• Geoff 2 - "Sweet Sue" by Fats Waller with his Rhythm.
• Dave 2 - "The Uunst Boat Song" an old Shetland sea shanty sung by Bryn Terfel with Patrick Rimes piano and Archie Moss on Mandolin,
• Suzanne 2 - "Allegro" 3rd Movement of Brandenberg Concerto No 5 performed by The Jaques Lousier Trio with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
• Lin 2 - "Count Your Blessings" sung by Aled Jones.
• Pete 2 - "Clychau Aberdyfi" (trad) played on the triple harp by Robin Huw Bowen.
• Annabel 2 - "An Old fashioned Girl" by Eartha Kitt
• Marie 2 - "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen.
• Geoff's bonus - "Your feet's too big" by Fats Waller.

I guess Fats won the day!

Many thanks to our hosts Suzanne and DJ Geoff for a very enjoyable afternoon.
Sadly we decided to postpone our February meeting as too many members will be unable to attend. We will revert to our original plan in March but keep an eye on our website for any announcements.
