10 of us met on a bright sunny day at the Goat Inn in Maerdy. Each arrival told us that they had left home in rain. When everyone had gathered to went on along the road to the layby at Dinmael From here we set off on our stroll taking the old A5 road which still had a central white line and cats-eyes in places. After a short distance the old road crosses the new road and we were then able to follow this through woodland before reaching the viewpoints at the Glyn bends and eventually the Pont-y-Glyn, over the River Ceirw where on 27th May 1887, the Tithe riots took place.
