...... waves and possibly bluebells
Four of us met at the llandrillo car park and decided that instead of getting soaked walking in the Berwyns we would rather get soaked walking beside woods, wivers, waterfalls wailway twains waves and possibly bluebells. The Berwyns can come another time.
We started in Parc Cymerau Isaf and took a detour to our first waterfall on Afon Goedol , then back through woods and down hill to our next waterfall, past carpets of oak seedlings and a notice telling us not to bathe in the river, more on that later.
Over the footbridge and up a steep and rocky path where Maria was tempted to comment on how treacherous it would be if it was wet, whereupon it turned treacherous and wet! Steeply on up through the woods at Clogwyn yr Geifr to open land and up to Duallt Halt on the Ffestiniog railway, a quick scamper up to the viewing point and then on towards Maentwrog.

Lunch was in a lovely place with views, bluebells and a disputed skylark, also a train in the distance (the only one we saw) swizz! On down, well up and down really, past another river and debatable waterfall under the railway, the last waterfall came next, rather a slimy one out of a small reservoir and on to look down on the Oakley Arms.
The return was up the road and a forestry track for nearly a mile before rejoining our outward path, we heard another train when we were close to the track and waited for it…….. and waited……. and gave up, it never appeared!
Slightly different way back via a natural bridal arch.
At the bottom of the steep rocky wet and treacherous path the river had changed to a bluey grey and smelled of sewage! We had had none of the promised rain! It started soon afterwards so we donned our waterproofs for the last up hill, of course the rain stopped quite quickly.
Our measuring devices gave us a range of distances between 7 and a bit, and 9 and a bit.
It felt like 11
Thanks for driving us Hilary and for coming Jo and Maria.
